TripAdvisor app to be offered with Windows 10 devices

Windows 10 already comes with some bloatware (we’re looking at you, Candy Crush Saga!), so it shouldn’t be such a huge surprise that Microsoft has recently agreed to install another such app on its operating system.

Starting an unknown date in 2016, Windows 10 will come with the official TripAdvisor app pre-installed, as the owners of the travel service have announced today.

What’s weird, however, is that Microsoft hasn’t said a thing about pre-installing the TripAdvisor app in Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile in the company’s official announcement, but TripAdvisor has bragged about having their service accessible from all devices running the OS starting 2016.

“TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel site, today announced the launch of a new Windows 10 app across desktop, tablet and mobile. The TripAdvisor app for Windows 10 will be available in 47 markets and will be pre-loaded on millions of Windows 10 compatible devices in 2016,” TripAdvisor's announcement reads (emphasis is ours).

Users can remove the bloatware

While it’s clearly a good thing that Microsoft allows users to actually remove these pre-installed apps (with some exceptions, of course, but they can also be removed with more complex tricks), there’s no doubt that having more bloatware in Windows 10 could be another reason for some people to stay away from the new operating system.

Other than that, the TripAdvisor app clearly comes in handy if you travel a lot, and now that it’s available as a universal app, it can be used on both PCs and smartphones running Windows 10 with the same look and feel. It offers access to a rich database of user reviews of hotels, restaurants, and attractions, using your phone’s GPS to determine your location and provide points of interests in your region.

The app is already available in the store with a free license, so you can give it a try right now on both PCs and smartphones.
