Mobile World Congress is the launching ground for so many new devices, and right in line with that expectation Acer is delivering a few new Android-powered smartphones to the market.  We’ve already seen the Liquid Zest and Zest 4G smartphones make it out for the entry-level markets, while the Liquid Jade 2 is a device aimed squarely at the more premium mid-range market thanks to its specs.  While we still don’t have a price on the Jade 2, Acer has also unveiled the Liquid Z630S, an upgrade from the Liquid Z630 that was launched at IFA back in September 2015.  This pits the Liquid Z630S right at the mid-range segment with its £179.99 price tag, and to make things even better it’s available right this instant in the UK.

Visually the Liquid Z630S looks identical to the Liquid Z630 with its curved chassis, chrome trim and faux brushed metal back.  Even the proper Android software buttons make their return here, allowing for easier use of the OS including the dedicated overview multi-tasking button and quick access to features like Google Now.  Android 5.1 Lollipop powers the software experience with some slight visual tweaks over what we saw on the Liquid Z630.  On the hardware side the Liquid Z630S features an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 1.3GHz 64-bit processor, a 5.5-inch screen, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.  A 4,000mAh battery will last well over a full day with ease no matter what you’re doing with the phone, and the 8-megapixel camera on the back is capable of recording 1080p video, while the 8-megapixel camera up front with wide-angle lens will help capture more of your surroundings while taking selfies.

Cat4 LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy connectivity are all here too.  All of Acer’s software packages are here too, from the “Bright Magic” selfie mode to the manual mode on the rear camera for quickly adjusting exposure and focus when needed.  The Acer Liquid UI makes an appearance here with floating apps that behave more like a desktop computer than a mobile phone by not taking up the full screen.  There’s also the awesome AcerEXTEND functionality which lets you wirelessly connect to a PC and control your phone via a phone-shaped emulator box.  Check out the gallery below and hit up your favorite UK retailer to check it out in person.
