The LG G5 is, next to Samsung’s upcoming flagships, the most anticipated device of this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). The show officially kicks off tomorrow, and we’ve seen plenty of rumors and leaks regarding devices that are expected to be released there. Samsung, Xiaomi and LG have confirmed their flagships are going to be released at the show quite a while ago, and we’ve seen plenty of leaked material thus far. Speaking of which, a new piece of the LG G5 puzzle has surfaced recently, read on.
The LG G5 might be one of the most innovative phones lately, if the rumors are accurate, of course. The G5’s ‘Magic Slot‘ rumors have been popping up online for a while now, and the other day we’ve actually seen the alleged LG G5 with an attached ‘Magic Slot’ on it. So, what is that exactly? Well, it’s an external adapter which you can attach to the device’s back, apparently. This would allow you to attach a more capable camera module to the device, for example, or improve its audio capabilities with an external adapter. There are tons of possibilities, and we won’t know what exactly is it until LG introduces their new flagship.
That being said, a while back we’ve seen some rumors saying that the G5 will feature a replaceable battery, but not the way you’d think. The phone’s back won’t be removable, but its battery might be user replaceable from the bottom. Confused? Well, the phone’s chin was rumored to be removable, and a render showing off that feature has leaked a while back. Well, now we actually have a real life image showing us this feature, presuming the leak is legit, of course. If you take a look at the provided image, you’ll get to to see the LG G5’s chin which has been removed from the phone, and the battery is attached to it. Speaking of the battery, the LG G5 is expected to support Qualcomm’s Fast Charging 3.0.
The LG G5 is expected to ship with a display which will be 5.3-inches or bigger (depending on which rumor you opt to believe), and you can expect it to offer QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution, much like its predecessor. The LG G5 will ship with 4GB of RAM, and will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, along with an Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel shooter is said to be available on the back of the device, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be placed up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the device, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find LG’s custom UI, as usual. The device itself will be made out of metal it seems. That’s more or less it, the G5 will be announced on February 21st, stay tuned.
