ASUSPRO B9440 Launches As World's Lightest Kaby Lake 14-inch Class Business Notebook

If you are all business in the front and party in the back, the ASUSPRO B9440 may be more your style. According to ASUS, this is the world’s lightest 14-inch business notebook and is on par with many 13-inch notebooks. The 14-inch Full HD display has thin bezels, allowing the display to fit into a smaller frame.

ASUS argued that this notebook is “built for” business, power, and comfort. The company noted, “ASUSPRO B9440 is designed from the ground up to deliver on-the-go business productivity with superior style.”

The chassis of the 2.31-pound notebook is made of magnesium alloy, which is far more rigid than aluminum alloy. The notebook can also taking a beating and has passed MIL-STD 810G standards for durability. It passed extra-high drop, 50,000-cycle hinge, lid pressure, and keyboard spill resistance tests. The ten-hour battery life will also last through most normal business days.

The ASUSPRO B9440 includes Intel Core i5 and i7 U-series processors, and users can add Intel vPro support or Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for secure hardware-based data encryption. Users can add a ASUS SimPro Dock USB-C docking station for dual DisplayPort interfaces, USB-C and Type-A USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, VGA, HDMI, LAN, and an SD Card reader.

An anti-glare coating on the screen reduces reflections while the bezel’s “floating screen” effect decreases distractions. The keyboard includes keycaps that were created with a 0.15mm dish shape and 1.5mm key travel for better tactile feedback, and therefore more accurate typing. The keypad is covered in glass and supports multi-touch gestures. A tilting hinge mechanism even allows users to adjust the keyboard angle. All of these additions are intended to provide a more convenient, ergonomic experience.

The ASUSPRO B9440 will be available for $999 USD in May 2017.
