Samsung ends Galaxy beta program; Galaxy S7 stable Nougat update to release really soon

Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy beta program is ending today, December 30, at 2400 hrs. We would take that as Samsung being ready to release the stable Nougat update for its Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, which has been long overdue now.

The screenshots above are same, but come from two different users, meaning Samsung is showing this notice to multiple or all users now.

Samsung has been poor with the Android version update release this time around, as rival companies like LG has long released it G5 Nougat update, back in November. Heck, Motorola has even rolled out the update for Moto G4 and G4 Plus sets (apart from the Moto Z) in India and elsewhere, a device which costs one-third of Galaxy S7 sets.

Samsung was said to have targeted the December release for its Nougat update, but that target seems to have missed, with another beta update coming out only few days ago. That could mean Samsung is still working on the feedback received, though the good news is, another Nougat release from Samsung would be a stable version, both for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

We expect the Samsung Nougat update to arrive first of all for the S7 and S7 Edge together, followed by Galaxy S6 sets, as Note 7 is no longer in contention.

Contrary to flagships-first for Nougat release, rumors about the original Galaxy A5 receiving Nougat update in January also surfaced earlier, although we highly doubt it.

We expect Samsung’s other popular series to get the taste of Android 7.0 update, starting with Galaxy C9 Pro, and coming down to A series sets like Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 2016 editions.
