XPS 13 9360 spotted with i7-7560U, Iris graphics

Dell's ever-popular ultrabook was spotted with some upgraded specs on Dell's Italian website before being taken down. A faster CPU/GPU was spotted, as well as DDR4LP RAM and new configuration options.

It looks like we can expect a Kaby Lake and Iris Graphics SKU of Dell's XPS 13 to be released soon, if a leak shared to us by Italian reader Marco Bozzola is accurate. The page is now gone from Dell Italy's website, but it revealed a new CPU/GPU (i7-7560U), faster RAM (DDR4LP), and new configuration options (i7/16/512/FHD touch).

Recently released, the i7-7560U should be a modest upgrade over the i7-7500U. Although the i7-7500U has a higher base clockspeed (3.5 GHz vs. 2.4 GHz), the 7560U can turbo boost up to 3.8 GHz, 300 MHz higher than the 7500U. The main difference between the two Kaby Lake i7 CPUs is their integrated GPU: the 7560U has Iris Graphics while the 7500U uses the HD 620. The main benefit of the Iris graphics is that they include 64 MB of eDRAM. eDRAM is located on-die, and so is significantly faster than system memory. This speeds up graphical computations significantly, however it is not as significant an upgrade for gaming due to its small capacity (64 MB) and TDP (15W) restrictions. According to Intel's ARK, the 7560U's Iris Graphics are exactly the same as the previous generation's 6560U Iris 540. Thus, you should not expect a huge increase in performance over either the 6560U or 7500U for graphical computations.

Another upgrade seems to be the addition of DDR4LP-2133 memory, which should have greater bandwidth and efficiency than the DDR3-1866 that was previously soldered to the XPS 13's motherboard. If past leaks are any indication, we can probably expect the updated configurations to be available within a few weeks.
