2. Windows Device Statistics Report
This month we analyze the pace of Windows 10 Creators Update rollout from several
different angles.

3. Data Source
This report is based on data collected from around 5,000 Windows Store apps running
AdDuplex SDK v.2 (and higher). The raw data analyzed was collected over the day of
July 18th, 2017 (UTC time) unless otherwise stated.
We have made every attempt to consolidate different reported phone model names
under their canonical retail model names, but it is possible that some of the rare model
name variations were not accounted for.
AdDuplex is the largest cross-promotion network for Windows Store apps and games
empowering developers and publishers to promote their apps for free by helping each
other. AdDuplex was established in January 2011 in Vilnius, Lithuania. As of July 2017,
more than 10,000 apps actively use AdDuplex to gain more visibility.
4. Windows 10 Desktop OS Versions
July 18th, AdDuplex
Creators Update have
crossed an important 50%
install base threshold this
month, but it seems to be
lagging behind the pace of
Anniversary Update. Even
though AU was considered a
slow rollout, after 3 months
on the market ¾ of all
Windows 10 PCs were
already running it.
Let’s look at Creators Update
from several angles to see if
there are any outliers
dragging it down…

5. Creators Update by PC OEMs
July 18th, AdDuplex
On the PC manufacturer front
most are hovering around the
global 50% mark with some
minor outliers. MSI is in the
65% range probably due to
more advanced gaming PCs
and, as a result, more
advanced users. Toshiba and
Sony, on the other hand, are
only at 40%, presumably due
to a higher percentage of
older machines.
Microsoft, despite being first-
party OEM, is not leading the
way in Creators Update
rollout. We will see why in a
bit…

6. Creators Update by Country
July 18th, AdDuplex
There are no major outliers
from the country level either.
Germany is close to 60%
while China is below 40%.
Everyone else is somewhere
in-between – close to the
global average.

7. Creators Update on Surface Devices
July 18th, AdDuplex
But when we look at just the
Surface devices there’s one
clear outlier – Surface Pro 3.
This month we’ve discounted
devices running Insider
builds to minimize the effect
of those who have manually
installed newer versions of
the OS. With that adjustment,
less than 18% of SP3 are on
Creators Update, so there
must be some important
compatibility issue there that
still remains a mystery.

8. Surface Devices
July 18th, AdDuplex
Overall Surface Pro 3
accounts for almost a quarter
of all Surface devices on the
market, so it affects overall
CU install share on
Microsoft’s hardware quite a
bit.
After the initial splash right
after release Surface Pro and
Surface Laptop settle into a
more modest growth curve
adding 0.2% share each
compared to last month.
