Manchester United have banned fans from bringing iPads and other tablet devices into Old Trafford, according to a message to supporters.

In an e-mail sent to Reds fans ahead of United’s friendly against Valencia on Tuesday, the club states that iPads and other electronic devices larger than 150mm x 100mm are now banned from the ground.

It is believed the move has been made to stop supporters recording large portions of live matches on their tablet devices.

The e-mail reads: “We want to make you aware of an update to our Club policy regarding home matches.

“Supporters cannot bring large electronic devices (bigger than 150mmx100mm) inside the stadium.

“For example, ipads or other tablet devices and laptops are now prohibited.

“Also please be aware that large bags, large cameras and liquids (with the exception of a small bottle of water with the top removed) are included in our list of prohibited items.”

The pre-season friendly against the Spanish giants, which will be Louis Van Gaal’s first match at Old Trafford, will be screened on the club’s own MUTV.
