IFA 2018 | Lenovo Legion Y530 updated with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060
Lenovo completely revamped its gaming laptop line, which these days is called "Legion". The new models Lenovo Legion Y530 and Legion Y730 were launched earlier this year with a much more modern design and almost bezel-less screens.
The design brought these new models some attention, but what was disappointing for many interested users was the downgrade in GPU performance. The older Lenovo Legion Y520 and Legion Y720 were available with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, while the newer Legion Y530 and Legion Y730 came out limited to the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. Make no mistake: The GTX 1050 Ti is definitely a respectable GPU for gaming in Full HD, but you need at least the GeForce GTX 1060 to game in 4K resolution or VR.
With yesterdays big Lenovo IFA announcement, the company announced an update of its Legion gaming line that would rectify this GPU downgrade – at least partly. Lenovo announced a new version of the more affordable model, the Lenovo Legion Y530, which will be equipped with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060. Unfortunately, the more expensive Legion Y730 will still be limited to the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.
The Lenovo Legion Y530 with GeForce GTX 1060 will be available in Europe in October, with pricing starting at 1,400 Euro.
